Topic: S Traps

Hello From Ohio!

Are S traps illegal in Ohio if there is a vent coming off of the long leg of the trap?

I have a bathroom sink against a wall.  That wall sits on a double header joist.  I do not/can not take the p trap into the wall and go down through the double header or go horizontal to another wall and down.  I feel as though I am backed into a corner forcing me into an S trap.   If the bottom side of the S trap  has a vent pipe coming off of it (to go through the roof), is that legal?

Re: S Traps

S-Traps are unvented and illegal under every code used in the US. The S-Trap turns downward before the vent making them unvented. Sorry I didn't see this sooner, if you are still wondering what to do a picture would help.
